Olot
For the capital of the Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park, we were commissioned to draft a Color Master Plan that ultimately forged a deep, lasting connection with the city of Olot. First, we established a color range profoundly rooted in the local territory by utilizing Km 0 materials (volcanic scoria/lapilli) and indigenous application techniques (traditional pozzolanic renderings). Following this, we developed specific mortar formulation protocols through a close collaboration between traditional artisans and industrial manufacturers. Finally, this work culminated in the urban design and remodeling project of Plaça Campdenmàs, executed alongside the architect Eduard Callís and his team. In this square, we successfully implemented the chromatic proposals established by the Color Master Plan, even though the facade restorations were only superficial at the time due to budgetary constraints. The resulting Color Chart and its regulatory framework were formally incorporated into the municipal urban planning regulations in 2011.
In 2023, as a result of the Plaça Major improvement project by the Un Parell d’Arquitectes team, the colors of the listed buildings in this area were analyzed again.
