Barri Gaudí neighborhood in Reus

This project centered on the Barri Gaudí neighborhood in Reus—a complex consisting of six housing blocks (each designated by the name of a color) and 555 apartments, completed by Ricardo Bofill’s Taller de Arquitectura (RBTA) in 1972. In its quest for a new housing and community relationship model, the plasticity of the building volumes was inherently tied to a complex chromatic dialogue that had faded over time. Thanks to the spectroscopic analysis of the degraded paint, it was possible to trace back a color palette that Peter Hodgkinson (RBTA) himself was surprised to rediscover. Consequently, during the restoration carried out in 2005 by fellow architect Albert Pla, the original chromatic vision was successfully recovered.
