Malgrat de Mar

In 2010, we were commissioned by the municipality of Malgrat de Mar to design a program that went far beyond researching historical colors; it needed to be a master plan capable of fostering a renewed sense of identity for the Castell neighborhood while driving social cohesion. Managed through the Local Housing Office, this initiative formed part of an ambitious urban integration and revitalization program, using color schemes and coordinated facade combinations to architecturally upgrade the district. The project focused on the Barri del Castell, a 20-hectares area situated on the highest point of Malgrat de Mar, characterized by steeply sloping streets and residential housing built during the influx of domestic migration in the 1960s. We developed a comprehensive color design project coupled with highly sustainable, cost-effective rehabilitation techniques designed to be easily implemented by the residents themselves.

In 2022, the Color Plan was expanded to the entire urban core, thus defining a color palette and urban landscape ordinance that was incorporated into the current planning.
