Architecture and Color
Color is the foundation
Alongside analysing the color of architectural heritage, we work across all fields that incorporate color into building and construction—ranging from landmark restoration and new construction projects to urban planning and color charts for industrial manufacturers.
Urban Planning
As part of our commitment to safeguarding architectural heritage, we apply our methodology within urban planning frameworks to protect the identity and fabric of historic districts.
Landmark Restoration
In the field of monumental intervention, we have carried out and directed projects such as the restoration of the facade of the Casa dels Velers (awarded with the 1986 City of Barcelona Prize), the roofs of the Castell de Cubelles, the parish church of Sant Celoni, the murals of the Llars Mundet or the Master Plan of the church of Sant Climent de Llobregat, among others. Through Gabinet del Color, we have collaborated with numerous professional firms on architectural restoration projects, both nationally and internationally.
New builds
We have developed chromatic projects and participated in competitions for the chromatic requalification of new or contemporary buildings. These interventions have been carried out both in collaboration with the technical management and by municipal commission; an example of this is the Landscape Integration Project of Ecoparc 4, carried out by order of the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona (AMB).
Color charts and swatch libraries
As color consultants with extensive experience in architecture and the urban landscape, we design color charts, cards, and swatch libraries for several leading companies in the construction and coating industry (including AkzoNobel, Asoes Condal, Beissier, Caparol, Cotegran, Polydrox-Arquitectura, Renova by Procolor, Sikkens, Technal, and Titan, among others). Beyond defining the core chromatic palettes, we also collaborate on their packaging design and market presentation strategies. Creating a proprietary color chart with its own distinct identity is a process that goes far beyond simple aesthetics; it requires a combination of research, conceptual coherence, and technical expertise. The final deliverable is a cohesive visual tool where every single hue serves a specific function and holds a clear purpose.
